Hazardous Weather for our Service Territory April 15th & 16th

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook and Freeze Warning, through tomorrow.  We will be carefully monitoring this weather system and are prepared for potential power outages.  Because Piedmont Electric is located in the communities we serve, restoration crews are always on-site and can begin restoration work quickly.  Piedmont Electric members are asked to call our Outage Reporting number at 800.449.2667 to report an outage or call 800.222.3107 to talk with a Member Services Representative.  Please exercise caution around downed power lines.  To report a downed power line call us at 800.222.3107.

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA TODAY | Counties we serve are affected: Alamance, Durham, Granville, Orange and Person.

MULTIPLE ROUNDS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TODAY…AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT THAT WILL CROSS THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING DAMAGING WINDS OR AN ISOLATED TORNADO WILL BE POSSIBLE…PRIMARILY EAST OF THE US HIGHWAY 1 CORRIDOR. URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOODING FROM HEAVY RAIN MAY ALSO RESULT.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RALEIGH HAS ISSUED A FREEZE WARNING…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 9 AM EDT WEDNESDAY.

* TEMPERATURES…ARE EXPECTED TO FALL INTO THE 28 TO 32 DEGREE RANGE. READINGS MAY BE AT OR BELOW THE FREEZING MARK FOR 3 TO 5 HOURS BETWEEN 3 AM AND 9 AM.

* IMPACTS…VEGETATION SENSITIVE TO THESE COLD TEMPERATURES MAY BE DAMAGED OR KILLED IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A FREEZE WARNING MEANS SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE IMMINENT OR HIGHLY LIKELY. THESE CONDITIONS WILL KILL CROPS AND OTHER SENSITIVE VEGETATION.
