Progress Energy Carolinas will administer the RFP on behalf of the buyers, which include Dominion North Carolina Power, Duke Energy Carolinas, GreenCo Solutions, N.C. Electric Membership Corporation, N.C. Eastern Municipal Power Agency and N.C. Municipal Power Agency Number 1, as well as Progress Energy Carolinas.
Through the RFP, the buyers are seeking proposals for energy and/or renewable energy certificates that can be used for compliance with the requirements of North Carolina’s Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard. This law has a requirement that 0.07 percent of statewide retail electric sales in 2012 and 0.14 percent of retail electric sales in 2015 must come from swine waste
Proposals received from qualified bidders will be evaluated based on cost and other attributes of the offer. Each buyer will determine whether to enter into a contract with a respondent based on the proposal.
