Piedmont Electric Ice Storm Restoration Details

Piedmont Electric reports the last outage, which was located in Alamance County, that resulted from Friday’s major ice storm was restored at 10:58 PM on Tuesday night.  At the height of the outage, more than 21,050 Piedmont Electric customers were without power which impacted all counties served.  We have replaced more than 90 poles, 150 cross arms and more than 100 transformers that were damaged during the ice storm.  Our thanks go to our members for their patience and understanding during this major outage, which was one of the worst storm outages in Piedmont Electric’s history.  We sincerely thank our employees and the additional 235 line workers from Brunswick EMC, Edgecombe Martin County EMC, Four County EMC, Halifax EMC, Haywood EMC, Jones-Onslow EMC, Lumbee EMC, Pitt & Green EMC, Surry-Yadkin EMC, Davey Tree Co, Lee Electric, Lewis Tree, Pike and XYLEM Tree Experts who worked tirelessly to restore power.  To learn more about the power of electric cooperatives, visit TOGETHERWESAVE.COM.
