Piedmont EMC hosted college students this past Monday participating in the Aynah spring break trip to North Carolina. Aynah is non-profit organization based in Minneapolis, MN that facilitates co-op education experiences for students around the world. This year they hosted a trip to North Carolina to educate students on cooperatives and their first stop was Piedmont EMC, headquartered in Hillsborough, NC. Students began their day at Piedmont EMC with a short presentation on North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives, cooperative principles and power generation/transmission. The presentation was followed by a field trip to a solar farm in Person County, NC. By the end of their visit, students were better able to understand what makes electric cooperatives different than most utility companies; we are member-owned, not for profit and we have our members best interest at heart. We are also committed to providing a safe, reliable and affordable supply of electricity to power the lives of our members and to add value beyond electricity.
