As a result of the high winds that swept through Orange County Tuesday afternoon, Piedmont Electric experienced damage to our transmission and distribution lines resulting in close to 7,000 outages in the southern portion of Orange County. By 9pm Piedmont Electric had restored power to all but 4,500 customers. By midnight only 2,500 customers remained without power. Piedmont Electric was able to restore the remaining reported outages by 3am Wednesday morning.
