Save money during these hot summer months by joining our smart thermostat savings program and signing up for time-of-day rates. Read on to see how both programs can benefit you.
SMART THERMOSTAT SAVINGS PROGRAM
Are you using your smart thermostat to its full potential? If you aren’t a part of our smart thermostat savings program yet, then you are missing out! As a participant, you’ll receive a $50 sign-up rebate and get paid for allowing Piedmont Electric to adjust your thermostat by a few degrees on very hot summer afternoons which also helps you save in energy costs.
Of course, you’ll always have the final say in your home’s temperature so you can change your thermostat back at any time. If you don’t already have a smart thermostat, you’ll need a Nest or Ecobee model and home Wi-Fi to participate.
Once you sign up for the program, you’ll get an initial $50 rebate and then you’ll receive monthly bill credits of $2.50 from June through September. Learn more by visiting pemc.coop/thermostat.
TIME-OF-DAY RATES
If you want to pay less for the energy you use, then a time-of-day rate could be perfect for you. With a time-of-day rate, you pay a lower rate for the energy you use during off-peak hours. Saturday, Sunday, most holidays, and 19-20 hours of every weekday are considered to be off-peak times.
In order to save money with a time-of-day rate, you don’t have to use less energy, you just shift your energy use to off-peak hours instead. You will want to avoid using energy during on-peak hours which are 1-6 p.m. during the summer and 6-10 a.m. during the winter.
As a result, you’ll pay less for the energy you do use and the whole cooperative will save money. You can even try out this rate risk-free for a year! If you don’t save compared to our regular rate, we’ll give you the difference back. Learn more and sign up by visiting pemc.coop/timeofday.
