Piedmont EMC has made significant progress since this morning restoring power to more than 4,600 members. Crews are continuing to work as quickly and safely as possible to restore those remaining without power. Reports are coming in from those restoring power that they are facing many challenges during their restoration efforts which include access to our more remote distribution lines located on steep snow and ice ridden terrains. Please know that we do not anticipate getting all services restored before nightfall but we will work as quickly and safely as possible to restore power to all members affected by this winter storm. Road conditions may become treacherous tonight as temperatures drop this evening. Remember if you see utility workers on the side of the road, please slow down and move over if possible. This keeps our workers safe and it’s also the law. We apologize for any inconvenience that this latest winter storm has caused our members.
