Piedmont Electric, your local electric co-op, is partnering with the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to provide high efficiency heat pump systems to co-op members who primarily rely on electric resistance heat.

Using funds provided to the state from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, also known as the CARES Act, Piedmont Electric is able to offer these new units, including installation, at no cost to those who qualify!


Members must apply through Piedmont Electric to qualify.

  • Heat their residence through electric heating.
  • Not exceed certain income limits.
  • Members do not have to own their home.
