The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for freezing rain and sleet in Central North Carolina, which includes our service territory. This advisory will be in effect from 7:00 p.m. this evening to Noon Wednesday. As temperatures fall below freezing this evening and into the mid to upper 20’s by Wednesday morning, expect trace accumulations up to a three tenths of an inch of ice along with trace amounts of sleet. This weather can make travel conditions hazardous. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility and use caution while driving. In addition, accumulation of ice on power lines could potentially result in power outages. Piedmont Electric is prepared and will continually monitor this winter weather. We encourage our members to be prepared as well, click here for Winter Safety Preparedness information: http://www.ncemcs.com/storm/savvy/winterStorm.htm
