Here at Piedmont Electric, we want to help you reduce your carbon footprint not just once a year, but every day. Help the planet and your wallet with these easy methods for going green:
Time-of-day rates
When you sign up for our time-of-day rates, you’ll pay a lower rate for the energy you use during off-peak hours. During the summer, reduce your energy use between 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and in the winter, reduce your energy use during on-peak hours between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. As a reminder, this year we switch to summer time-of-day rates on Sunday, April 14. We’ll switch back to winter time-of-day rates in October. Remember weekends and holidays designated by the co-op are off-peak hours.

Electric vehicle rate
Electric vehicle owners can take advantage of our special EV time-of-day rate when charging their vehicles overnight. Not only will you notice a savings on your bill by charging during super off-peak hours (between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.), but you’ll also receive a $50 credit on your bill just for signing up and a $50 credit for letting us know that you have an EV.

Smart thermostat savings program
If you have a Nest or Ecobee smart thermostat in your home, consider joining our smart thermostat savings program! Through this program, Piedmont Electric will adjust your thermostat setting by a few degrees on very hot summer days to help reduce our peak. Of course, you can change the thermostat back at any time if you wish. Participants receive an initial $50 sign-up credit plus a $2.50 monthly credit on their bill from June through September, just for being part of the program. Members must have Wi-Fi to participate in this program.

“It feels good to do good, especially for our environment. ‘Many hands make light work’ so I am proud to be an unofficial ambassador of this energy-saving program with Piedmont. Thank you for doing the hard work orchestrating this and making it possible for our community to help the environment while helping our wallets!”
