At Piedmont Electric Cooperative we do more than keep the lights on — we make a difference in the lives of those we serve by helping build a better community. We show our commitment to our communities through a wide range of youth programs and giving opportunities, including scholarships.
College Scholarships for High School Seniors
The Piedmont Electric Helping Hand Foundation awards seven $2,000 scholarships to high school seniors who are planning to continue their education at a North Carolina college, university, community college or two-year school.
Application period: Sept. 1 – March 31
Application requirements:
- Complete the following online form.
- Attach your most recent academic transcript.
- Attach one letter of reference from a teacher, school counselor, employer, youth leader or pastor.
- Attach a short personal statement video of yourself.
Applications must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. on March 31, 2025. All applications are confidential. Applications will not be considered unless all of the above required information is complete and received as specified.

Please note: You must complete this form to apply for a Piedmont Electric Cooperative Scholarship. Applicants must have a parent, grandparent or guardian who is a member in order to be eligible. Relatives of Piedmont Electric employees, Piedmont Electric directors and/or Piedmont Electric Helping Hand directors are not eligible to apply.
College Scholarship Program
Community College Scholarships
The Piedmont Electric Helping Hand Foundation awards six $1,500 scholarships to Piedmont Electric members who are attending Alamance Community College, Durham Technical Community College and Piedmont Community College.
Our community college scholarships are awarded to two students at each community college at the start of the fall semester. Applications for these scholarships are accepted through each community college’s general scholarship application form.
