USDA Loans and Grants
Piedmont Electric, in association with the USDA’s Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant program (REDLG) provide loans to our rural community annually. The USDA provides zero interest loans to our cooperative, which in turn lends money to local businesses for projects that help to create jobs in rural areas.
In the past several years, Piedmont Electric has secured more than $15 million in USDA funding within Alamance, Caswell, Durham, Granville, Orange and Person counties for fire trucks, fire stations, ambulances, schools and a public library. As the funds are repaid they are re-loaned to assist with future projects in communities served by Piedmont Electric.
