Community Loan Program

Piedmont Electric Membership Corporation, in association with the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant program (REDLG), work together to provide loans for local projects that support economic development, create jobs, and provide a benefit to our members in rural communities. These zero-interest loans are provided to our cooperative from the USDA, with a review and approval process for anticipated projects. Approved projects are eligible for funding for up to 80% of total project cost. Past projects have included fire trucks, fire stations, ambulances, school upfits, and a public library.

Since 1938, our commitment to communities is one of the core values that has guided us over the years. By utilizing the USDA’s REDLG program, this provides us with the opportunity to provide funding to rural organizations in need, to help our communities continue to thrive and be great places to live, work, and raise a family.

Approved projects through the loan and grant program, are paid back by the recipient, and a portion of these payments are re-allocated to assist with future projects in the Piedmont Electric service area. For more information, call 800.222.3107 or fill out the form below.
