2/16 – 12:50 p.m.
All outages have been restored. Thank you so much for your patience as our crews worked hard to restore power these past few days!
2/15 – 6:30 p.m.
More progress has been made as we currently have 88 members without power thanks to the hard work of our crews and support teams. At the height of the storm, we had 8,478 members without power. Since severe thunderstorms are in the forecast for tonight, work will stop around 8 p.m. to keep our crews safe. Work will begin again at 6 a.m. tomorrow morning.

2/15 – 4:00 p.m.
Crews have been working around the clock in some of the hardest hit areas in Caswell and Person counties today. We continue to make progress and currently have 1,200 members without power down from the height of the storm with 8,478 members out. We still expect to have most members restored by tonight and the remaining members restored by tomorrow night. Weather is not expected to impact restoration efforts.
2/15 – 12:15 p.m.
We continue to make progress and currently have 1,789 members without power. This is down from the height of the storm where we had 8,478 members out. We expect to have most members restored by tonight and the remaining members restored by tomorrow night.
The large outages in Caswell county near Nathan Simpson South, Camp Springs West and Oakview are expected to be restored by this evening.
2/15 – 9:00 a.m.
Our crews continue to make progress restoring power to 2,251 members. Additional crews from Four County Electric Membership Corporation and Randolph Electric Membership Corporation are arriving this morning to assist with power restoration. We hope to have most members back on by today, and we expect to have all power restored by tomorrow night.

2/14 – 9:00 p.m.
Crews have made significant progress today restoring power to 5,300+ members. We will have staff working through the night, but many of our crews will be sent home to rest around 9:00 p.m. Sleep is vital for our crews not only because it is dangerous for them to work while exhausted, but there are also important safety regulations we must adhere to. Crews will resume full restoration efforts at sunrise Monday morning. Social media and website updates will also resume in the morning. Please note: Our goal is to first repair the lines that can get power to the greatest number of people in the shortest amount of time. In the early stages of a major storm restoration (like yesterday and even parts of today) you may not see crews working near your home but be assured they are working on lines that feed power to your home even if you can’t see the them or they don’t stop at your house. We thank you for your patience and anticipate all power to be restored by tomorrow evening.
2/14 – 6:30 p.m.
- Since 6:00 a.m. crews have been working tirelessly through adverse weather conditions to restore power to nearly 4,000 members. Restoring power after a major, widespread outage is a huge job that involves much more than simply throwing a switch or removing a tree from a line.
- At the moment, our main goal is to restore power safely to the greatest number of members in the shortest time possible, which is why we are focusing on some of the largest outages in the Surl-Mt. Tirzah (Person) and Cherry Grove (Caswell) areas.

2/14 – 2:30 p.m.
Crews continue to make good progress restoring power to more than 1,400 members this morning. Additional crews have arrived from other electric co-ops to aid in power restoration. As the weather continues to develop throughout the day, we may see some fallen trees and broken branches causing outages. We will continue to work as quickly and safely as possible to restore power to all our members during this hazardous weather and we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. 2/14 – 12:00 p.m.
- 6,500 members out primarily in Person (3,000) and Caswell (2,400) with scattered outages throughout the rest of our service territory.
- Crews have been working since 6 a.m. in the rain assisted by outside crews to speed restoration.
- Duke just re-energized the transmission line that feeds the Hyco substation (in northern Person county) and will continue to work on their outage affecting our Jonathan’s Crossroads substation (in northern Granville county). We hope to have that back on today as well.
- There are several crews working out of the Cherry Grove (Caswell) area to restore power.
- Weather Update: After a break this morning, rain will move back into our area this afternoon and evening. Temperatures will stay cold but rise into the mid to upper 30s, with the potential for freezing rain. This could potentially cause outages with the ground already heavily saturated from yesterday’s rain. (NWS Raleigh)

2/14 – 9:00 a.m.
- 7,900 members are without power primarily in Person (3,800 out), Caswell (2,500) and Granville (1,000).
- Hyco substation (in northern Person county) and Jonathans Crossroad substation (in northern Granville county) are out due to a Duke Energy transmission line outage; we will keep you updated on these as information from Duke becomes available.
- All of our crews worked until 10 p.m. last night and have been working since 6 a.m. assisted by outside crews to speed restoration.

2/13 – 8:00 p.m.
- We currently have 123 separate outages affecting 7,697 members.
- Hyco substation (in northern Person county) and Jonathans Crossroad substation (in northern Granville county) are out due to a Duke Energy transmission line outage.
- Other outages are due to broken poles, downed trees and branches in the power lines caused by the ice.
- As the dark can create serious hazards and unsafe conditions in winter weather, all crews will be sent home to rest around 9 p.m. tonight. Restoration efforts will pick back up again at 6 a.m.

2/13 – 5:15 p.m.
We currently have 8,478 members without power. Outages could fluctuate as trees and limbs thaw and then refreeze as the sun goes down and temperatures drop before thawing again in the morning. This up and down of thawing and freezing can cause limbs to contact lines, come loose and then contact lines again. Our crews will continue to work as long as conditions are safe. Additionally, keep in mind the following safety tips during and after a winter storm:
– Never go near a downed or sagging power line. Do not attempt to remove debris from power lines, as the lines could still be energized and very dangerous. Always assume power lines are energized. Report fallen or damaged lines to your co-op or utility provider immediately.
– Winter weather can lead to dangerous conditions on roadways. Stay off the roads if possible, and if you must drive, use extreme caution.
– If you see electric utility crews working on the side of the road, slow down and leave plenty of room between your vehicle and the workers.
– Only use generators and charcoal grills in well-ventilated outdoor areas; a garage does not count as a well-ventilated area. Never connect a generator directly to a home’s wiring. Instead, use an extension cord to plug lights and appliances into the generator.
2/13 – 2:25 p.m.
We currently have 8,065 members without power. Trees and branches are falling onto power lines as fast as we are restoring power. A huge thank you to crews from Union Power, Tri-County, Lee and Lewis Tree that are coming to assist with power restoration.

2/13 – 12:40 p.m.
At this time, we have 6,093 members without power due to the winter weather. The ice is breaking off tree branches and uprooting trees which are falling into the power lines. Thank you for your patience as our crews work as quickly and safely as possible.
