Apply simple energy efficiency tips
Additionally, making changes to your energy use habits can be an effective way to lower your bill. As the weather cools down, we recommend implementing these small changes around your home:
- Fill small gaps around doors and windows with caulk to prevent outdoor air from coming into your home, which causes your HVAC system to run longer.
- Upgrade to a Nest or Ecobee smart thermostat and join our smart thermostat savings program. Learn about the four ways you’ll save at pemc.coop/thermostat.
- Use an insulation blanket around your water heater to reduce heat loss.
- Change the air filters in your home once a month to keep your HVAC system running efficiently. By taking advantage of these tools and tips, you can have peace of mind that your home is ready for the cooler months ahead.
