Roxboro, NC (June 1, 2021) – Broadband service from RiverStreet Networks is now available in large portions of Person County with overlap in parts of Caswell, Durham, Granville and Orange counties in North Carolina and Halifax County in Virginia.
This wireless internet service is available through a broadband program between RiverStreet and Piedmont Electric Cooperative. Residents can sign up for service as well as view pricing and discounts at Join.BuildPiedmont.com. If an address is not yet available for service, RiverStreet representatives will follow up when service is available.
“We’re excited to offer a better internet solution to the people of Person County,” said Greg Coltrain, RiverStreet’s vice president of business development. “Our mission is to ensure rural communities have the internet service they need in addition to providing excellent customer service.”
This project is the result of RiverStreet acquiring NC Lightleap in 2020. NC Lightleap was selected by Person County in the county’s earlier efforts to improve internet service in the county by building several communication towers.
“As a locally owned co-op, we are committed to the well-being of our communities,” said Steve Hamlin, president and general manager of Piedmont Electric. “We are proud to partner with RiverStreet in order to provide this critical need and encourage all who are interested to visit Join.BuildPiedmont.com to sign up.”
Additional progress is being made towards offering better internet service in Caswell County where funding coupled with interest from individuals has resulted in plans to build a wireless network to 2,918 households and businesses in Caswell County. This project is made possible by funding awarded to RiverStreet from the NC GREAT Grant Program in the amount of $1.5 million. RiverStreet will provide matching funds for this project of $1.1 million. Further information about this project will be published at pemc.coop/rn once available.
Piedmont Electric and RiverStreet are committed to bringing a better internet solution to those who need and want it. For more information, visit Join.BuildPiedmont.com or call RiverStreet at 844.238.0131.
