You're a member, not a customer

Steve HamlinAs we celebrate National Co-op Month, it’s important that we recognize the core of our cooperative, which is you, our members.
While companies like wholesale stores refer to their customers as members, it takes on a different meaning for cooperatives like ours. As a Piedmont Electric member, you have a say in the future of your co-op and how we operate.
Each of you is a member-owner, meaning that you get to help make the important decisions. One way to do this is by voting for fellow community members to serve on our board of directors.
Being part of a community that looks out for each other is a unique experience that you don’t get from a traditional electric utility. We support each other and show up when one of our members needs assistance. Even the people who go to work every day to serve you as a member of our cooperative are more than just employees; they’re also your neighbors and often fellow co-op members.
Companies that serve customers prioritize making money. As a not-for-profit cooperative, we work hard to keep costs low and return any profits back to our members in the form of capital credits. Our top priority is to always provide you with reliable, affordable and environmentally responsible energy.
Thank you for being part of what makes our cooperative so special. We couldn’t do it without you.
