Why EVs? Smart for Your Wallet and the Planet
EVs cost less to fuel and maintain compared to gas-powered vehicles. With fewer moving parts and no need for oil changes, routine maintenance is simpler. Plus, charging your EV, especially during off-peak hours, can dramatically reduce your transportation costs. Our Local Charging Network is Growing
To help ensure EV drivers have places to plug in, Piedmont Electric has partnered with other North Carolina electric cooperatives to expand a network of public EV charging stations across the state. Whether you’re commuting or road-tripping, it’s becoming easier to charge up wherever you go.
We currently have installed several EV charging stations throughout our service area:
- Two fast-charging station at Carrboro Plaza
- A fast-charging station at the Arby’s in in Mebane
- A level 2 charging station at our office in Hillsborough
Save More with Our EV Time-of-Day Rate
Did you know you can save even more by charging your EV when electricity demand is lower? Our EV time-of-day rate rewards members who charge during off-peak hours, typically overnight, when electricity costs are lower. It’s a win-win for your wallet and our grid.
Save $50 with Our EV Rebate
We’re also offering a $50 rebate for members who register their EV with the co-op. Knowing where EVs are charging helps us plan for the current and future energy needs of our community.
