America’s electric cooperatives have designated the second Monday of April as National Lineman Appreciation Day. On April 11, Piedmont Electric will honor the hard working men who often face challenging conditions to keep the lights on.
Headquartered in Hillsborough, NC, Piedmont EMC’s 30 linemen work in the field restoring power during outages, and maintain distribution lines and equipment. Across the nation, more than 19,000 men and women maintain 2.5 million miles of line for electric co-ops, public power districts, and public utility districts. We proudly recognize all electric linemen for the services they perform around the clock in dangerous conditions to keep power flowing and protect the public’s safety.
“Our nation’s lineworkers put themselves in harm’s way each and every day to ensure electricity is safely delivered to our homes and businesses,” said President & CEO Randy Brecheisen. “Following severe natural disasters, these dedicated men and women work tirelessly, and often far from their families, to restore power. This month, we honor and thank them for their dedication and service and recognize the critical role linemen play in keeping the lights on.”
Piedmont Electric invites members to take a moment to thank a lineman for the work they do. Join us on social media and use #ThankaLineman to show your support for the men and women who light our lives.
