Cedar Grove, NC (October 12, 2019) – Over 520 individuals gathered at the Cedar Grove Ruritan Club to celebrate Piedmont Electric’s third annual Community Day.
The free event included bucket truck rides from Piedmont Electric linemen as well as participation from the Orange County Sherriff’s Office, Cedar Grove Fire Department, UNC Health Care, North Carolina State Trooper Association and ElecTel.
“Community Day is just one of the ways we show our commitment to strengthening our local communities. Concern for community is one of our seven guiding principles that we were founded on 80 years ago,” said Steve Hamlin, President and CEO.
Education about personal protective clothing is incorporated throughout the event as safety is one of Piedmont Electric’s priorities both on the job and throughout the community.
Over the past several years, Piedmont Electric has secured more than $12 million in USDA funding within Orange, Person, Alamance, Caswell and Durham counties for fire trucks, fire stations, ambulances, schools, a public library and a warehouse. Partnering with local support services provides Piedmont Electric the unique opportunity to improve safety in our communities and residents’ quality of life.
Piedmont Electric plans to continue this annual Community Day and partnerships with local emergency support services in the years to come.
