If you’re looking for easy ways to save money on your electric bill, take a look at some of our programs that are perfect for a “set it and forget it” approach.
LOAD MANAGEMENT: AIR CONDITIONING
When you sign up for load management, we’ll help you reduce your energy use by automatically cycling your air conditioner compressor off and on during very hot weather when high energy use is expected for our entire co-op. Generally this will occur between 1-6 p.m. on weekdays only.
Your HVAC fan will continue to run to help you stay comfortable, plus it requires no work for you after you sign up as we will set the control for you.
Not only does this help all of our members save money, but it also puts money back in your wallet! The amount of time you’re willing to let your air conditioning stay off directly correlates with how much money you’ll receive back during the summer months.
You can choose between the following three tiers:
• Load Management: pays $2.50/month* and your compressor is cycled off about 7 minutes and back on for about 14 minutes.
• Load Management Plus: Pays $5.00/month* and your compressor is cycled off about 14 minutes and back on for about 7 minutes.
• Total Management: Pays $7.50/month* and your compressor remains off for the entire control period. *Program pays 4 months per year.
As a bonus, you’ll receive a one-time $25 credit on your bill with minimum one-year participation in the program when you sign up for the air conditioning load management program.
LOAD MANAGEMENT: WATER HEATER
Your water heater is another big energy user and we can help you better manage it too! With this program, Piedmont Electric will turn off your water heater during peak times: 1-6 p.m. in the summer and 6-10 a.m. in the winter.
Plus, since your water heater holds a reserve of hot water in the tank, you likely won’t even notice when your water heater is turned off! By participating in the program, you’ll earn $1.00/ month all year long.
