Piedmont Electric Cooperative, in association with the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant program (REDLG), provide loans to our rural community. The USDA provides zero-interest loans to our cooperative, which in turn lends money to local businesses for projects that help to create jobs in rural areas. Past projects have included fire trucks, fire stations, ambulances, schools and a public library.
Commitment to communities is one of the core values that has guided us since we were founded in 1938. Utilizing this loan program from the USDA allows us to provide opportunities for rural organizations in need and help make sure our communities continue to be great places to live, work and raise a family.
The money has to be paid back by the recipient and a portion of these repaid funds are reloaned to assist with future projects in the Piedmont Electric service area. For more information, call 800.222.3107 or fill out the form below.
