Home Weatherization FAQ
Eligibility is based on household income relative to federal low-income guidelines. If a household contains a member who receives Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Public Assistance, Food Stamps, or Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) benefits, the household is considered automatically eligible for weatherization services. Special considerations are given to the elderly, handicapped, and to households with small children. See chart below.

The weatherization program provides services at no cost to qualifying applicants.
If you rent your home and qualify for the program you may still receive services. We must have a signed statement from the owner authorizing the weatherization program to make repairs as well as proof of ownership. Landlords not qualifying for the program will need to share in the costs of the repairs.
- Sealing of cracks and holes to reduce heat loss
- Insulation of attics, walls and water heaters
- Heating/cooling system repairs or replacement
- Providing efficient lighting and refrigeration
- Install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
- Client education
- Replacement of doors and windows
- Major home repairs such as new roofs, new floors, plumbing and electric work.
- Building additions
- Painting (other than areas disturbed by weatherization work)
- Laying carpet
- Lead based paint and asbestos abatements
- Mold remediation
