A Simple Way to Go Solar
Not every home is a good fit for rooftop solar, but that doesn’t mean members can’t benefit from clean, renewable energy. Piedmont Electric’s community solar program offers an easy, affordable way for members to support solar power without installing panels on their property.
Launched in 2016 as part of the co-op’s Brighter Future initiative, the community solar program was created to remove common barriers to traditional solar installations, such as high upfront costs, roof limitations, zoning requirements or homeowners’ association restrictions. To make participation accessible, your co-op built solar fields at our Roxboro and Caswell County offices, featuring more than 1,800 solar panels that generate clean, local energy for participating members.
Joining the program means members can subscribe to one or more solar panels for $2.50 per panel per month, with no limit on the number of panels they choose. Each month, subscribers receive a bill credit based on the amount of electricity their panels produce. Piedmont Electric handles all maintenance and repairs, making the program completely hassle-free.
Community solar is a great option for renters, members who don’t want to make permanent changes to their home or anyone who wants to support renewable energy without the commitment of owning solar equipment. It’s also a great way to contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future for our community.
