Hillsborough, NC (July 12, 2017) – Electric vehicle owners looking for a charge in Orange County now have another spot to plug in as Piedmont Electric has installed an electric vehicle charging station at their Hillsborough office.
The charging station is a “Level 2” station and can fully charge an electric vehicle (EV) in 3-5 hours. The station is free and available to our members and others visiting our headquarters. This new service was funded by Duke Energy’s EV Charging Infrastructure Support Project.
“The charging station improves the EV infrastructure and adds a charging option for owners of electric vehicles in our area,” stated Steve Hamlin, President and CEO of Piedmont Electric.
Piedmont Electric also recently designed a new rate schedule for EV owners. This new EV rate includes a heavily discounted energy rate from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. which will provide significant savings for EV owners who charge their vehicles overnight.
