Do You Know Someone with Unclaimed Capital Credits?

As a not-for-profit electric cooperative, Piedmont Electric returns excess revenue (margins) to our members in the form of capital credits. Each year, we track how much electricity members use and assign capital credits accordingly. Once approved by our board of directors, these credits are returned to members through bill credits or checks.

However, when members move and don’t update their contact information, we’re unable to notify them about unclaimed capital credits or uncashed checks. If a member has moved out of our service area in recent years, they may have money waiting for them!

Unclaimed capital credits can be viewed by visiting pemc.coop/capital-credits. If unclaimed for more than four years, the funds are transferred to the state treasurer’s office and can then be claimed at nccash.com.
